The Sennheiser MKH8050 super-cardioid is a great general purpose microphone perfect for recording soloists, large instruments like the grand piano, orchestras and of course speech for radio and TV productions.
It has a wide frequency response of 30 to 50,000 Hz and it's symmetrical transducer with 2 backplates provides extremely low distortion and noise.
The Nextel® coating gives you the freedom to position the microphone without having to worry about reflections from lighting upsetting camera dept. The poor lambs.
And there are 3 Rycote windshield options you lucky people!
The windshield kit 9 MZL is very small and light and connects directly to the microphone capsule using the screw fit MZL connector. Choose this option if your priority is reducing the size and weight and you don't want to use the MZX XLR adaptor which is supplied with the microphone.
If you'd rather connect to the microphone via the XLR adaptor you have a further 2 options:-
Either windshield kit 10 - it's not much bigger than the 9 or a small Cyclone kit which gives improved performance but is a little bit more expensive.
