Schoeps CMIT5U Shotgun Microphone

For a long time Schoeps said they wouldn't make a shotgun microphone because they wouldn't compromise the sound quality to achieve the directional characteristic. Well, they must have used some special Schoeps magic because the CMIT 5 U is definitely a shotgun but it retains that beautiful, natural sound quality you expect from Schoeps and even off-axis the response doesn't really change, it just gets quieter. The rear lobe also seems to be much less noticeable than with some other microphones.

There are three pushbutton-activated filters:-

High-frequency emphasis (+ 5 dB at 10 kHz) enhances speech intelligibility and compensates for high-frequency loss caused by windscreens.

A steep low-cut filter (18 dB/oct. below 80 Hz) suppresses wind and boom noise.

A gentle low-frequency rolloff (6 dB/oct. below 300 Hz) compensates for proximity effect.

Pairs of LEDs next to each pushbutton indicate the status of the filters so you can see how you've set it up even in the dark and those settings are retained when the microphone is switched off.
