The Zoom F3 is an ultra-compact professional field recorder with two locking XLR inputs, dual A/D converters and 32-bit float recording for location sound, filmmaking, effects recording and compact production rigs.

Its gain-free 32-bit float workflow captures very quiet and very loud material without conventional level setting, while +24V / +48V phantom power, up to 192kHz recording, USB audio-interface operation and optional Bluetooth or timecode accessories make the F3 far more capable than its size suggests.

Important Notes

• microSD card, AA batteries, BTA-1 Bluetooth adapter, TCA-1 Timecode Adapter and AD-17 power adapter are not included.
• The F3 records 32-bit float WAV only; there is no conventional 16-bit or 24-bit recording mode.
• Timecode requires the optional Zoom TCA-1 and compatible F3 firmware (v2.20 or later).
• The BTA-1 and TCA-1 both use the F3 remote connector and cannot be used at the same time.
• The quoted battery runtimes vary considerably with phantom power, headphones, battery chemistry and operating conditions.

With a rugged metal body, protective side bars and standard mounting points, the F3 can live in a small audio bag, on a camera rig, attached to support equipment or hidden close to the action. It runs from two AA batteries, USB power or the optional AD-17 adapter.

32-Bit Float with Dual A/D Conversion

Each input uses two A/D converters with different gain ranges, allowing the F3 to capture extremely quiet and very loud signals without conventional gain adjustment. The resulting 32-bit float files give you substantial freedom to recover level in post without clipping or throwing away low-level detail.
