The Sound Devices MM-1 is a battery-powered microphone preamplifier with built-in headphone monitoring. Designed for boom operators, broadcast, announcer positions, podium microphones and field production, it combines a transformer-balanced mic preamp, line-level output, phantom / T-power, limiter and high-pass filtering in a rugged portable aluminium chassis.

It can monitor microphone audio, an external monitor feed, or a mix of both, making it useful where communications channels or mix-minus feeds need to be heard alongside the microphone signal.
