The Schoeps MK 22 is an open cardioid Colette capsule positioned between the MK 21 wide cardioid and MK 4 cardioid, balancing natural ambience with clear forward focus.

Its smooth treble, controlled rear pickup and moderate proximity effect suit solo instruments, spot miking and stereo arrays where a conventional cardioid sounds too close or dry.
